The Panorama Route in the Kruger Lowveld

Growing up our holidays were made up of family road trips to Mpumalanga with family and family friends. We had quite a huge family as that also included the extended family. My grandparents were very wise about it as they had a small car and then a bigger car that would be able to accommodate all of us for our road trips. Every years we used different gates into the kruger National Park, and because the grandparents were such epic wanderlusters and road trippers - thats where I get it from - They knew how to do this travel business without breaking the bank. It was always self-catering chalets for accommodation. It was mostly the free things to do in the places we would visit so that everyone in the family was accommodated. While in Mpumalanga, The must visit on the itinerary was always the Panorama Route. Whether we started it in Sabie where it begins at the Long tom Pass and went with it all the way to Hazyview or doing it the other way round it didnt matter. We knew there ...

UNESCO World Heritage sites in South Africa

South Africa is a country with such rich heritage, there are definitely places that you need to add to your itinerary on your next visit to our country. I have had the privilege to visit some of the most interesting heritage sites that share a story of our trying history and even the first class society in Southern Africa. The South African Heritage Resource agency is an organisation tasked with protecting the South African Cultural heritage. Local government in the various communities are responsible for the management of the heritage sites in their communities. SAHRA is then responsible for the overall protection of our heritage sites and also the submission of heritage sites to the World Heritage Committee to be added to the tentative list which can then be added to World Heritage sites. Heritage sites also have different levels, we have the World heritage sites, National and provincial heritage sites. I get to share with you some of my favorite Heritage sites in South Afr...

Game spotted at the Zululand Rhino Reserve

I recently Spent some time at the Zululand Rhino Reserve. We stayed for 2 days and that meant 2 game drives each day. And I mean, those game rangers were knowledgeable and good looking. It's Always fun to learn from someone you secretly drool over isn't it?!? Okay, I kid. I joke. The Zululand Rhino Reserve is a Big 5 reserve developed to protect the indigenous and endangered species in northern Kwazulu-Natal. This post will share with you some of the animals we got to see while on the game drives. This is a private reserve and you need to bear that in mind and self drives are not allowed. Except when driving yourself in and out of the lodge. This is an ostrich egg. 🐣 it is not uncommon to find ostrich eggs abandoned. The male can impregnate up to 4 or even more females. As the eggs are laid, both male and females take turns to incubate the eggs till they hatch. During this period the male may neglect a few eggs and it is usually the eggs of the last ostrich to ...

Riding Harley Davidsons through Cape Town

I love discovering new ways to travel. I have been to Cape Town and have pretty much used all types of transport the mother city has to offer. The thing about cape town is the moment you have this city figured out she finds a way to blow your mind away with not just her beauty but amzing things to do and places to explore. I was recently in Cape Town with Sho'tLeft and they were going to show me everything I had never done in Cape Town. Everytime I get my travel itinerary, I always think this has to be the most awesome thing I have ever done - but I always do awesome things so the joke is always on me. My itinerary kicked off with a fight from Joburg to Cape Town. This flight was filled with awesome people looking forward to seeing table mountain or drinking the wine. I managed to get a selfie with most of the guys on board the flight as well as in the cockpit. Tip** I know we all dream of selfies in the cockpit. Some airlines might not let you take a selfie...

Charlotte the friendly ghost in the Midlands Meander

The thing about having family in KZN is, often when one travels to visit family you never really stop and explore the small towns that one drives past. To this day I still struggle to visit Durban and not feel guilty about being so close to family and actually not getting time to see them. I mean, one can only imagine how busy a travel bloggers life can be when there's lots of boys to drool over and plenty beer to sample... Never mind the delicious Indian cuisine found in the city. The views are breathtaking everywhere I am currently on a road trip with some of South Africas top travel bloggers, travel writers, photographers and videographers and this time we stopped in Nottingham Road. No it's not a one road sleepy little village in the breathtaking Midlands meander. Nottingham road is actually a small town. With breathtaking views everywhere you turn. With only about 2500 residents which is quite impressive in terms of growth compared to only having had 200 re...
