Landing at the Sao Tome International Airport.  Sao Tome and Principe are Islands on the Gulf of Guinea (part of Atlantic Ocean). They are 2 volcanic islands. Sao Tome is the largest with the Capital city being named after the country - Sao Tome. The local currency is the Sao Tome Dobra (STD).  The main language spoken on the Islands is Portuguese. The local languages are dialects of Creol e, Angola,  a nd Tonga. I want to start this post with all the facts that you need to know before traveling to Nigeria. But first things first: Visit your travel doctor, take your malaria pills, and bring loads of insect repellent. I had traveled from Nouakchott in Mauritania to Dakar, Senegal. There are various options when it comes to accommodation around Dakar. you can find the smaller hotels that would be reasonably cheaper if you walk around the city. Or you can do what I did and make friends online and Couchsurf your way through Senegal. The lovely thing about Senegal is most of the activities that would interest you are free of charge.
