Karibuni Kenya - Welcome to Kenya

My heart has been captured and everyday I dream of when I get to go back to this amazing country. The country were no one is a stranger, everyone is friendly, welcoming and warm. My Kiswahili leaves a lot to be desired but Pole-Pole (slowly in swahili) I will get there. A country with so much to offer for a wanderluster like myself, it only makes sense why I would fall in love with it. The Nairobi Skyline Kenya is your dream destination, from Wildlife, Coastal beach bumming, City life, nightlife, the great outdoors and even caters for the adrenaline junkie. With a series of posts that I will be doing taking you through different parts of Kenya, I would like to introduce you to the country with some basics that you will need to be aware of for your travels to Kenya. The perfect baked bean curry recipe at Durbans Spice Emporium

Those Durban Tourism aprons came in handy for this cooking session.  I'm no foodie but I know a bit about food. Besides eating it, I can also throw down in the kitchen. Was recently in Durban at the Spice Emporium, here anything and everything curry related you could possibly want you can find. It's all spice and keep in mind strictly vegetarian.  On our visit they shared a perfect recipe of Baked bean curry. Who knew baked beans could be so interesting? I've put together the recipe for you guys in varsity, the backpackers and of course for the days when it's been a rough month and you have a spare tin of baked beans.  Here's the recipe:  Ingredients:  1. Baked beans  2. Chopped Onions  3. Chopped green peppers  4. Chopped tomatoes  5. Mustard Seeds  Spices/Seasoning: 1. All-in-one ma dala  2. Turmeric  3. Paprika  4. Salt & Pepper  Instructions:  1. Durban in Bites - Part 2

I love food. I really love food, tantalises 4 of the most important senses that we have. I’m not fussy about texture, but if it looks one way and feels wrong in my mouth – there might be a chance that I will spit it out and abandon it. Discreetly of course. A place that has yummy food will always have me in their back pocket. I am a firm believer that we eat with our eyes and nose before we taste it. If it doesn’t live up to that expectation, we will be disappointed so far Durban has not disappointed me. While Durban does conjure up images of ice cream in the sun and condensation on tall glasses with colourful liquids in them, there’s a bit more to this place than ice cream and drinks. Everyone needs food and Durban does provide, in different forms and flavours. If you’re looking for hot and spicy or just a simple no fuss meal, you might find it all in just one road. The first thing that springs to mind to anyone who has heard of Durban, or if you are familiar with the taste...

What Namibians think of South Africa - And the truth.

I have been in Windhoek just over a week and I love it here. Although yesterday was unbearably hot I couldn't function. Having spent a week in Windhoek meeting the locals, there are some misconceptions (can't think of a better word at this point) that Namibians have about South Africans. I have put together the 5 that I have dealt with almost daily... 5. Kapana is like Shisanyama. Honey, No. I might not be a carnivore but the 2 aren't the same thing. Shisanyama, you buy your meat and braai/bbq it yourself. Usually at a watering hole. Kapana is what we would call chicken dust, but it's beef strips. 4. Windhoek is like Johannesburg.. you hear this mostly from the locals who have never been to Johannesburg. So cute! Windhoek is like Nelspruit. But we forgive you. 3. Soweto is a very dangerous place. I don't want to go there. I've felt safer in Soweto than in Sandton. That's just me. From my experience, Soweto is much safer than Katitura. Quot...
