Hiking up Lions Head

Lions Head I am not the most physically fit young woman but I love pushing my body to limits. I am that girl that literally craves that stiffness a day after doing extreme sports. So after an afternoon in Cape Town stuck to the laptop, I decided to go hike up Lions head. A friend had suggested that this was a great idea as it will give me 360 degrees of Cape Town. My friend didn’t not lie, the views of Cape Town from Lions head are exceptionally breath taking views.   Lion’s Head forms part of the Table Mountain range and provides a scenic backdrop to the City of Cape Town. It falls within the Table Mountain National Park and rises to a height of 669m (2195ft) above sea level. The famous Cape Town Landmark - Table Mountain As much as I struggled my way to the top, my never say die attitude kept me going. It took more than an hour to climb to the top and I am glad I persevered. I really at some point thought to turn back and go back to my backpackers but I s...

Riding Harley Davidsons through Cape Town

I love discovering new ways to travel. I have been to Cape Town and have pretty much used all types of transport the mother city has to offer. The thing about cape town is the moment you have this city figured out she finds a way to blow your mind away with not just her beauty but amzing things to do and places to explore. I was recently in Cape Town with Sho'tLeft and they were going to show me everything I had never done in Cape Town. Everytime I get my travel itinerary, I always think this has to be the most awesome thing I have ever done - but I always do awesome things so the joke is always on me. My itinerary kicked off with a fight from Joburg to Cape Town. This flight was filled with awesome people looking forward to seeing table mountain or drinking the wine. I managed to get a selfie with most of the guys on board the flight as well as in the cockpit. Tip** I know we all dream of selfies in the cockpit. Some airlines might not let you take a selfie...

Cape Towns Best Fish and Chips at Kalkys

A fiery sunrise. I decided since I am in Cape Town, I must have the best fish and chips. Word on the street is you will get the best at Kalkys in Kalk Bay. Kalk Bay is a fishing village on the coast of False Bay, Cape Town. But in order to have this fish, I wanted to catch it for myself. So I made a call to George the Kalkys manager. I was the invited to go out with the fishermen at 04:30am. Kalky's 5 On this day, my morning started at 03:00am as I was staying in Cape Town and had to call a cab and drive out to Kalkys. I was on time and off we went. I have a new found appreciation for being a fisherman. This is definitely not for the impatient people. So this would never be a career option for me. Kalky's Menu There were 10 fishermen and a fisherwoman on that boat ready to take on the Cape Town seas. As we sail out, we reach a place. We drop our anchor and then the waiting game begins. We managed to catch a lot of baby sharks but we also thr...

Welcome to Sunflower Stop Backpackers When I think of Sunflowers, I imagine a happy field filled with sunflowers and myself running through the field with no worry in the world. This has been my home for the first two days of my adventure. The backpackers is situated on Main Road in Green point, it really is easy to find. My First day In Cape Town

#TheSoloWanderer I am glad to report that I survived my first day in Cape Town – although, not with its fair share of interesting events. I landed at the Cape Town International Airport from Johannesburg and of course as any time before, Cape Town weather has never been in my favour. It was gloomy and raining. The flight was a bit bumpy because of the weather. Since we were just leaving Joburg, we concluded that there must be potholes in the air as well – Oh how I love my city. Welcome To Cape Town. From the airport I was headed to Sunflower Stop in Green Point, my home for the next two days. Will tell you more about this A.W.E.S.O.M.E home of mine in the next post. www.capetown.travel From the airport I got on a MyCity Bus. So when you buy your ticket, you get a card that you can reload. Very similar to the Gautrain system. When I got my card I said that I was going to main Road in Green Point as that is where Sunflowers Stop is, little did I know how lon...
