Dear Namibia - A love Letter

Dear Namibia..

I have been here for 2 weeks. They tell me how dangerous you are but you have been nothing but gentle and good to me.
As I leave and make my way to Botswana, I am sad to say good bye. More than anything, I would love to stay.
I have made some good friends discovered your beauty and tasted your award winning beer. You are truly the land of the brave. You have come so far and have so far to go still. I hope to walk this journey with you. Thank you for playing a part in my journey to self discovery as well as promoting Africa to Africans.

I have made so many friends from as far as Italy and France. Through you I expanded my travel family. I have shared stories of my home country South Africa And had the opportunity to invite more people to come discover my beautiful country of South Africa on a Sho't Left.
I have had late nights spent around the braai with people I now consider my own family.

Thank you for your beauty, thank you for your ocean, sand dunes, desert, game and the heat. Thank you for being so exciting and for leaving me wanting more time with you.

Let it be known that your Kapanas are the grandest ever, your people loving, warm and welcoming.

Let anybody that was ever curious about you know that the solo wanderer highly recommends you.

If anything, I promise to be back.

Traveling from Nouakchott in Mauritania to Dakar in Senegal over land

Mauritania is a desert country. Nouakchott is the capital city of Mauritania. Mauritania is a desert country, bring loads of water and sunscreen. Although there is a caveat to bringing loads of water, this trip has no bathroom breaks. I did not see a toilet anywhere and asking the taxi to stop so you can relieve yourself is a bit tricky as there is no bush and you are driving through the desert. So drink loads of water at your own peril. The local taxi to get to the border Take a taxi from Nouakchott to the border with Senegal. The taxi stops about 1km from the border. There are horse carriages available to take you to the border should you need but it is a walkable distance. When you get to the border, you need to produce a copy of your passport. There are a few things you can do in Addis. Addis is a really big city. I have loved and enjoyed Ethiopia as they do not have class zoning. Everyone stays together, they do not have suburbs for the rich as we do here in South Africa. So I have put together a few things you would love to check out while in Ethiopia. 1. Visit Africa's largest market - Addis Mercato Addis Mercato is Africas largest open air market. Here you can buy anything and everything traditional where Ethiopia is concerned. When I visited the market, I expected a dirty place with no tar roads and wet muddy streets, not this market... This market is a city within the city of Addis Ababa. 2. Addis Ababa is a city surrounded by mountains, I truly recommend you take the time to explore these mountains. I took the time to hike up Yeka forest. I was never ready for what I found. I want to start this post with all the facts that you need to know before traveling to Nigeria. But first things first: Visit your travel doctor, take your malaria pills, and bring loads of insect repellent.
